Accelerated Math

Accelerated Math is a one-on-one computerized learning program. Each student is tested to determine baseline math  proficiency. The teacher then assigns objectives for the student. Each student  is given individualized lessons. The Accelerated Math program prints out a practice lesson for the student. These practices are graded. When the practice scores indicate sufficient knowledge of the objective, the teacher uses the program to generate a skills test. Once the test scores show that the student has mastered the material, the student is advanced to the next skill.

The program uses computer-scanned answer sheets. None of the student's work is actually done on the computer. The students works on the printouts and the answer sheets. This approach allows each student to work on an individualized program. It also allows one-on-one help when a student is having difficulty with a skill. At Fairview, this program is used as a supplement to the classroom textbook.
